Universal Works was inspired by the founder, David Keyte, in 2009 at his kitchen table. After spending his formative years growing up in a suburban midlands town in the 1970's and being a part of a working class family that loved to dress well; he would often see his family members switching out their weekday work wear for something more refined and put together on the weekends. After a plethora of different jobs, David then went on to have a thirty-year span in the fashion industry. From shadowing Paul Smith to Maharishi he gained an insiders perspective from and worked alongside some of the best in the industry. Universal Works believes that it is all about the mixing of ideas; understanding heritage and the context, which is then underpinned by contemporary needs and aesthetics.
